Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

This page collects the questions couples ask us most often before and after they start using Jeduwo. The answers are short and specific. If something is missing, write to us and we will reply, usually within one hour during opening times.

About the app

Jeduwo records the money a couple earns and spends, sorts it into categories, and shows what is left before the next payday. You set a monthly plan, enter or import transactions, and the app compares the plan with what really happened. It does not move money, hold funds or give investment advice. It is a planning and tracking tool, nothing more.

It is built for two adults who share some or all of their costs: renting together, saving for a deposit, planning a wedding, or simply splitting the weekly shop. It also suits couples who keep separate accounts but want one shared view of the bills they both pay.

Each partner has a personal login, and the two profiles are linked to one shared household. Both people can add entries from their own phone. You can also start alone and invite your partner later; the history you entered stays in place when they join.

The app is available for current iPhone and Android versions. Two partners can use different platforms in the same household, and the data stays in step between them. Older handsets that no longer receive security updates from their manufacturer may not be supported.

Yes. The basic version is free to use with one shared budget and the standard categories. Paid options add extra budgets, longer history and exports. You are never asked to enter card details just to look around.

Most couples have a working first budget in about 20 to 30 minutes. That covers creating the household, entering two incomes, adding fixed bills such as rent and council tax, and setting a few spending limits. Fine-tuning categories usually happens over the first month as real spending shows up.

Budgeting as a couple

The app supports three common methods: an equal split, a split in proportion to income, and a fixed amount set by each partner. Proportional splitting is often chosen when one partner earns noticeably more. For example, if one person takes home £2,400 a month and the other £1,600, a 60/40 split of a £1,000 rent share would be £600 and £400. The app does the arithmetic; the choice of method is yours.

Yes. Each partner can set aside a personal allowance. Spending from that allowance appears in the shared view only as a single monthly figure, not as individual purchases. Many couples find this removes the need to explain small buys while still keeping the household total honest.

Changes to shared limits are visible to both partners, and each change shows who made it and when. That makes it easier to talk through a decision instead of discovering it later. The app does not enforce limits; it shows the numbers and leaves the conversation to you.

Savings goals are part of the plan. You enter a target amount and a date, and the app works out the monthly contribution needed. If you miss a month, it recalculates the remaining amount instead of leaving the goal stale. It tracks progress only; it does not open savings accounts or hold your money.

Add them as yearly items. The app divides the amount by twelve and sets that sum aside in your monthly plan, so a £480 annual bill shows up as £40 a month long before it is due. This is the most common reason couples stop being surprised by a large payment in one month.

Either partner can leave the household at any time. On leaving, you can export your own entries and the shared history as a spreadsheet file, and the household can be closed or kept by the remaining partner. We raise this early because it is a practical question, not a pleasant one, and it is better to know the answer in advance.

Privacy and security

No. You can use Jeduwo entirely with manual entries or by importing a statement file you download yourself. It does not ask for your online banking password at any point. Keeping the connection manual is a deliberate choice, because it means the app never holds credentials that could move money.

Only the two partners in a household can view its entries. Our support staff cannot open your budget unless you send us a specific screen or export during a support request. We do not sell personal data and we do not show advertising based on your spending.

Data is encrypted while it travels between your phone and our servers, and it is stored in encrypted form. You can add a PIN or the fingerprint or face unlock built into your phone to open the app. Please also use a screen lock on the phone itself, since that is the first barrier if the device is lost.

Yes. You can request deletion of your account and its entries at any time from the settings or by emailing [email protected]. Details of what we keep, for how long and why are set out in our privacy policy.

Plans, prices and support

The paid plan is £40 per month or £480 if you choose to pay for the full year. Both prices cover the whole household, so two partners do not pay twice. The free version stays available, and you can move between the two at the end of any billing period.

Cancel from the subscription settings in the app or through the store account you used to subscribe. You keep paid features until the end of the period you already paid for. Your data stays available afterwards in the free version. The conditions are listed in full in our terms and conditions.

We cannot promise a result, and we do not publish success figures. What the app does is make your spending visible and keep both partners looking at the same numbers. What you do with that information depends on your income, your costs and the choices you make together.

No. Jeduwo is a record-keeping and planning tool. It does not recommend loans, investments, pensions or any financial product. If you need advice on debt, mortgages or tax, speak to a qualified adviser or a free debt-advice service.

Email [email protected] or call +44 121 423 2200. Our 20-person team answers requests Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:30 and on Saturday from 09:30 to 15:00. The usual reply time is about one hour in those hours. We are closed on Sunday, and messages sent then are answered on Monday morning.
